Enterprise Vault FSA - moving placeholder shortcuts

Question; If we want to move a shared folder from one server to another and that folder contains EV FSA placeholder shortcuts, is there a way of moving the folder without having the archived content retrieved to the folder? I figured it would be possible if the FSA agent was disabled (services stopped?) on the source server before initiating the copy.

The reason for doing this is to move a large, heavily archived folder structure from one file server to another. If all the data is retrieved as the copy takes place, there will not be room for it on the target server.

The file servers are Windows Server 2003 and the EV version is 9.0.2.1061 (I think latest).

EV9.0.2 is the latest release, so good to see you're on it. The Utility Guide (http://www.symantec.com/docs/DOC2851) gives details about the FSAUtility, which should do the trick for you.

Check out my blog entry https://www-secure.symantec.com/connect/blogs/file-system-archiving-enterprise-vault-v9-placeholder-... which gives you a lot more detail on placeholder migrations / movements.
