Error when adding a fileserver in EV8

Hello all

i'm running EV8 in mei Testenvironment. When i trie to add a fileserver in the targets i get the Error:

"The EnterpriseVaultDirectoryConnection object reported an error"

"Schnittstelle nicht unterstützt" (in english: interface not supportet"

So i cannot add a fileserver to EV.

Any ideas?

I have not seen this specific error before in regards to adding a file server and there is nothing on the internal kb.

Can you copy the entire message and also how far along the process of adding a file server do you get before this error appears?

Are you also attempting to install the agent at the same time?

Do you have any firewalls between your vault server and the file server?

DTRACE the MMC process as well and you will get a better idea of where the process is failing. If you can post that information this may be of some help.

If not then I would recommend a support case as it may be something network related which could mean getting to the stage of looking at network traces.

thanks for your answer.

I solved the problem by installing .net 3.5 SP1.

Have you any experience with upgrading EV2007 to 8? I have several customers

who wants to upgrade, but i'm not shure if it's better to wait for the first service pack.

Yes this comes up when you have a problem with the .net components, but from the current combatibility lists there is only .net 2.0 supported with EV...
