Messages donot open as original message

Hi all,
 
I have a strange situation at a customer site. For some reason a lot of users experience the problem that archived messages cannot be retreived correctly within Outlook. When they open a message only the shortcut contents is shown. They can go to the archived message but then it opens in Internet Explorer.
 
What is causing this and (better) how can I fix this?
We are using EV7SP1 and the clients are all MS Outlook 2003 SP2.

Run deployment scanner on the EV server.
 
Check to see if DisableLoopBackCheck and DisableStrictNameCheck registry keys have been implemented with a vault of (1).
 
A quick way to see if the server is setup correctly is to:
 
1. Login to the EV server as the VSA
2. Click on start, run, then type \\alias name of the EV server.
3. If you see a screen with printer an other objects then all is good.
 
If you receive a prompt for login then the disableloopbackcheck is not set.
 
If you receive duplicate name on network then the disableloopbackcheck is set but the disablestrictnamechecking is not set.
 
CAVEAT: This is only relevant with systems that use alias names.
