New Archive Policy Question

MASIV

I am currently in the process of redesigning our archiving strategy.  We will have two policies moving forward.  One for 2 year retention, one for unlimited retention.

My question is, I used the EVPM script below to create a new folder for everyone.  The folder was created successfully.  What I have found is that people are able to rename the folder and at least one person is able to delete it.  Is there an option to disallow changing the name?  If the name changes, would the policy not apply?

[Directory]
DirectoryComputerName = evserver
SiteName = EVSITE

[Mailbox]
DistinguishedName =  All

[Folder]
Name = mailboxroot
enabled = true
suspended = false
OverrideArchiveLocks = True
name = \Mailbox Archive
nondeletable=true

The other part of this new policy (not EV) is that all other folders will have a 6 month delete Exchange managed folder policy applied.  So all mail not in the Mailbox Archive folder will be deleted after 180 days.

Is there a good How To reference for creating policies?  Seems to be many different ways to design policies, but I have yet to find a best practice document.

I appreciate any advice that is offered.

Regards,
Chris

if they rename the folder, the filter would still apply so it would archive with the same rules
if you re-run the evpm script it will create a new folder

As mentioned by JesusWept2...if they rename the folder; the "Retention Category" defined in the filter will remain.

In regards to the folder being deleted...you can use this entry under your [FOLDER] block called:

NonDeletable = True

 This will prevent the folder from being deleted on the Outlook client side. I've just tested it in our LAB and it works.

That's comforting to know.  That was the answer I was hoping for.

Now if I can ever get archive explorer to accurately show what is in the archive I could rest easier.

Appreciate your assistance

nondeletable=true is the last line under the Folder section.  That part is working (except for one lady).  I was hoping there might be another input for "norename"  or something like that.

If changing the name won't affect the policy, I won't worry about it.

Thanks
Chris
