Restoration of archive email failed

I have one user who is experiencing a strange situation whereby when he tries to restore emails it goes back to archive status after showing the restoring status.

 

He just cannot restore the email from his archive.

it will show restoring status and then change back to the archive status almost immediately.

The vault store the user belongs to isn't in backup mode is it and there aren't any reg keys like enableRestore set to 0 right? Best thing to do is first make sure the item exists beyond a shortcut, can they open the message from the shortcut or from archive explorer?? Can you restore from archive explorer? Is the user over quota? Are there any events on the EV server? Best thing to do is to DTrace the agentclienthroker, RetrievalTask and StorageRestore It could also be something more complex such as their exchanges archiving task is on EVServer1 and the vault store the user belongs to is on EVServer2 and there maybe an issue sending an MSMQ request from one server to the other etc

How do I check whether the vault store the user belongs to isn't in backup mode is it and

In the VAC - click on the VaultStoreGroup container and the Backup Mode status will either be blank or indicate 'Yes' that the vaultstore is in backup mode.

 

Open regedit and browse to HKLM\software\<wow6432Node - as applicable>\KVS\Enterprise vault\Storage

My backup mode status is blank.

 

there is no reg key enableRestore to 0.
