I have a problem regarding putting together a solution for customer becase the support matrix from Syantec revelse very narrow support for external storage..

I couldn't remember if we went with P800 on my servers or not, but with some digging I found that we did.
Here is an output from the HP ACU CLI running on one of my PureDisk 6.5.1 servers:
Smart Array P800 in Slot 2
Bus Interface: PCI
Slot: 2
Serial Number: P98690J9SVM0H6
Cache Serial Number: PA82B0A9SVL1P1
RAID 6 (ADG) Status: Enabled
RAID 6 (ADG) Enabler Status: Enabled
Controller Status: OK
Chassis Slot:
Hardware Revision: Rev D
Firmware Version: 4.12
Rebuild Priority: Medium
Expand Priority: Medium
Surface Scan Delay: 15 sec
Cache Board Present: True
Cache Status: OK
Accelerator Ratio: 25% Read / 75% Write
Drive Write Cache: Disabled
Total Cache Size: 512 MB
Battery Pack Count: 2
Battery Status: OK
SATA NCQ Supported: True
I did not install any special drivers, nor did I have to jump through any hoops (except installing the HPACUCLI).
It works. It works out of the box.

This line from the compatibility list is pretty general :
Each server must be connected to internal and/or external disk storage. The storage can
consist of any of the following:
• Direct-attached storage (DAS) over SATA, serial-attached SCSI (SAS), or SCSI.
Given that the P800 is supported in Suse, and so is the MSA60 (check the quickspecs at HP for that info)- I don't see a problem here. I would say that you can pretty much use the HP Suse compatibility as the baseline, with the caveats that Symantec throws in for iSCSI and NFS.

Well HP do support P800 drivers to install in PDOS or SLES 10, but that does not mean that SLES 10 supports the P800 native. If PDOS is going to be installed and run supportet by symantec, I do need to 100% sure that this will work. By the way, P800 is not in hardware compability matrix for SLES 10, but the P400 is, unfortunatly they do not use the same drivers as far as I know.
If anyone have any other info please respond.
Tom if you have a link to any info stating that P800 is supported please provide the info.
Thanks you.
