Does the backup of a VM can disrupt this VM.

I have a file server that has been blocked by a backup in VM mode...

This server was a Windows 2008 R2 VM on VMware ESX 4.1 with dynamic disks. The problem is documented in VMware but it is unlikely to find it when you install NetBackup.

Failure is due to snapshot of a dynamic disk.

Does anyone has encountered other problems of this type (a VM damaged because of a backup) ... is it "dangerous" to save VM and is there a "check list" to prevent such incidents?

I frequent Veeam forums and a WMI script available there to identify servers with dynamic volumes.

Thank you - Veeam script is interesting to identify servers with dynamic volumes, but it seems not easy to implement !
