Netbackup 7.5 import help required

HI All,

Im hoping that you can help me out with an issue.

I backed up data to an LTO4 tape using netbackup 7.5 and then our master server needed to be changed so a full catalog recovery was used to move the master server to a new windows 2008 box.

I now need to restore some data backed up before the master server was moved and it is not in the catalog. I have been importing all the tapes from the backup set but have come accross a few issues with some of the tapes.

When i click on import from the catalog section an error pops up straight away 191 failed, the image was not created with TIR information.

Now in 7.1 i could get around this by changing the header file but in 7.5 the header file seems to be contained within the netbackup databases.

Is there any way around this issue as we have users screaming for this data and i am struggling to restore it for them.

Many thanks in advance

Aaron

Just to clarify ... When you run cat_export (man page here http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO72929 ) you can specify either a client or -all The header info is taken from the NBDB (it got put in there at 7.5 onwards) and dumped in flat files under netbackup/db.export These files look exactly like those you are used to. Simply your changes and use cat_import to upload the new version to NBDB. man age for cat_import here http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO72930 Looks like you might need the -replace_destination option to overwrite the exsisting info in NBDB. Yep ... cat_export cat_import will create te header files in flat file form - make your change then import them. 1. Be very carful please .... 2. Run an online db backup before starting /usr/openv/db/bin/nbdb_backup -onine (create dir first) About the commands http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO67429 Martin

Hi Martin,

Many thanks for the very quick reply. Just to confirm do i simply need ot run the cat_export / cat_import command for the client or will i still need to manipulate any files before running the import?

Thanks again
