Hello,
I'm having an issue with my exchange server backups.
1 Master server, Netbackup 6.5.6 is installed on Solaris 10
2 Exchange 2007 server installed on Win2008 in a cluster. Has exchange client 6.5.4 installed on both.
I'm a UNIX admin and don't know much about exchange at all. I don't have any rights on the Exchange server at all.
The errors I see in the job details point to Snapshots.
Errors in the Detailed Status (103)
Critical bpbrm (pid=13222) from client exchange_server: FTL - snapshot preparation failed - Replica is not healthy for entire filelist and configuration does not allow to attempt backup of active instance., status 103
Critical bpbrm (pid=13222) from client exchange_server: FTL - snapshot preparation failed, status 103
end Snapshot: Create Snapshot; elapsed time 0:00:24
Errors in the Detailed Status (13)
begin Snapshot: Validate image
Operation Status: 0
end Snapshot: Validate image; elapsed time 0:00:01
begin Snapshot: Delete Snapshot
started process bpbrm (pid=11968)
end writing
Operation Status: 13
end Parent Job; elapsed time 0:43:33
file read failed (13)
I need to make sure the UNIX/Master Server side is working. If I need to do something on the exchange server please let me know so I can ge a Windows Admin to do it. We are also getting error 13 on our Windows fileservers as well.
I also need to know how the snapshots are done? Is this handed by the Master servewr or the client?
Thanks for your time.

yes, in 6.5
To configure an Exchange 2007 replication backup
1 Open the NetBackup Administration Console or the Remote Administration
Console.
2 In the left pane, expand Host Properties.
3 Click Clients.
4 In the right pane, right-click on the Exchange client you want to configure
and click Properties.
5 Expand Windows Client and click Exchange.
6 In the Exchange 2007 replication backup (LCR or CCR) box, click the writer
you want to back up.

They seemed to resolve the replication copy issues they were having. What we are trying to figure out now is how to set up the policies to back up the passive server in the cluster. Our policies currently are pointed to the cluster name. Any ideas of how to get the software to be cognizant of which node is the active and which is the passive so that the backups always kick off on the passive. Any ideas?

on the Policy attributes tab, select Passive copy only
This option backs up the passive copy of a database if the
database is all of the following: mounted, included in the backup
selections list, and healthy.

Thanks for replying.
I use the NetBackup Admin Console. Where is the "Policy attributes tab"? If your useing a differant GUI please tell me.

Double click the policy to open it up
The first tab that opens is the attributes tab - the box you are looking for is in the bottom right hand corner

Ok thanks.
In Netbackup 6.5 that section is not there. It's in the Host Properities section.
It is on the 7.1 thought.
Thanks for your help.
