We are running Netbackup 7.0.1 and I am having an issue with one policy. Every day on one server the Default Application backup for one policy fails one time and then passes on the next consistently for about two weeks now. I have checked the event viewer log files on the backup server and really don't see much, when I look at the application log files on the client server I do see the error message for each days failed backup, but the description really doesn't tell me much other than to check the logs on the backup server which doesn't tell me much. Does this sound familiar to anyone? Could this be a scheduling problem? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Also this server is a Windows 2003 machine if that is of any matter.
Thanks again.

I tried to run the bppbkar command but it would not recognize it. Thanks for your help

C:\Program Files\Veritas\NetBackup\logs\mssql_backup_failures
Status 6 is generic database backup failure. The corresponding .rpt file in the directory mentioned above should provide clue as what is really going on.

I really appreciate the help but I don't have a directory mssql_backup_failures and the logs themselves have numbers I tried to open a few but they are huge and very hard to read. I tried this from the command line and drilling down through Explorer. Thanks again.

and run the job again

Please also create dbclient log on SQL client.
Post dbclient and mssql_backup_failures log after next failure as attachments.

Hey sorry it has been so long for my reply, thank you all for your help it appears that the issue involved the SAN drive getting dropped off repeatedly. The issue was resolved and the backup works on the first attempt now.
I do have another question though, when restoring a Lotus Notes .nsf file, if I do not want to replace the original file but restore a file to another location, do I need to create a new instance ID for the mail file?
Any comments greatly appreciated.
Thanks
Brandon
