Hi Kushal,
Below error shows that netbackup is not able to find the server "as valid server" from where import has been initiated.
" 2/22/2013 1:18:15 AM - Error bpbrm(pid=4844) db_FLISTsend failed: operation requested by an invalid server (37) "
You can refer below tech note as well, if it can help you to troubleshoot error - 37

Do the images from Phase 1 is visible in master server GUI console at the time of running phase 2. By running import using command may not show list of images,
I would suggest you to initiate import from scratch by master server GUI console. Below tech note can be refer for step by step process of import.

Are you running this from a Remote Admin Console or from the Master server?
If from a Remote Admin console try it from the Master or better still go onto the Master Server and just run bpimport without any swicthes
β02-22-2013 01:15 PM
Hi mark ,
i initiated the import from the media server by taking the master server admin console from media server by going to File-- change server option
as master server is i controlled by backup team in our other center.
I am sitting at Disaster recovery data centre and have access to only media server of this environment.
As suggested by you i am planning to ask our backup team run bpimport command from master server.
As first phase of import is successsfull.
can i ask our team to run this command on master server ?
bpimport -drfile -id BE0000 -server chcitmsbkp02
where
BE0000 -- Is media ID
chcitmsbkp02- Is hostname of media sever which as tape library connected to it and tape BE000 is in this library.
IS this command sufficient with this option ? I have never used this command before.

If you have only done one phase 1 import then if they just run bpimport without any switches at all it will initiate a phase 2 import for any valid phase 1 imports
Not sure why you would want the -drfile option unless i am missing something here

done with running command bpimport from master server but still import failed.

hi,
what is the version of backup exec that used to take backup into tape BE0000?
by any chance if that is backup exec 12.5, netbackup can not import that tape.
see the below tech note.
http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH125836
if the backup exec is older than 12.5.
please see if you are able to see the images of phase 1 with below command and see what you are able to find
bpimport -PM -s 11/01/2010 -e 11/10/2010
you would need to modifiy start and end times according to your backup times

you sould be able to import the images with Netabckup.
check this commnad if you are able to find the images from Phase 1 Import.
bpimport -PM -s 11/01/2010 -e 11/10/2010

Just re-read everything here and spotted this:
"I initiated the import from the media server by taking the master server admin console from media server by going to File-- change server option"
I think this is where it went wrong.
You need to leave the Master as the Master in the Admin Console, go to the catalog section and try starting the import again
You may not be able to do now and either have to wait a few days or clear down the temp information from the catalog section manually
My advise is to start again but keep the Admin Console pointing to the Master

does Backup exec 2010 r3 falls in range 7 to 12.?
Backup Exec 2010 is version 13. (Screenshot)
Backup Exec 2012 is version 14.
Statement of support for the importing of Backup Exec images in NetBackup 7.x using the Backup Exec Tape Reader

NetBackup 7.x supports images from Backup Exec 7 through 12
This will not work unfortunately.

note:data is on only one tape
i have corrected mistakes in my above sentences in previous post.
β02-27-2013 11:53 AM
Maybe they used Backup Exec?
β02-28-2013 10:01 PM
Hi CRZ,
no the import was done on netbackup 7.5 environment only.Reason why second phase import failed .. because media server lost connection with master for every 2 to 3 hours.
troubleshooting done was run-->regedit
In client name fileenter hostname of media server
In server file enter name of master at the top for eg
master
media
and run below command on command line
Bpdown -f -v
after 10 min run below command
bpup -f -v
aand restarted the import. It went fine.
I am sure its tape came from environment backup exec 2010 which is of vesion 13
