Uninstalling Netbackup Maintenance Release

DavidE31

Hello,

we had a problem on Windows Server 2003R2 Enterprise x64 SP2 client during reboot, maybe due to upgrade to NBU 7.5.0.7 maintenance release (that was the first server reboot after upgrade)

In case we need to rollback from 7.5.0.7 to 7.5.0.6, what is the procedure to do this ?

If I uninstall NBU 7.5.0.7 from the add/remove programs panel, will I have to reinstall fully NBU from 7.5, or will it rollback to 7.5.0.6 that was previously installed ? Will I have to make some changes on my admin console (for example, remove client from all policies and add it again)

Thank you

Looks OK - from the download link it says:

**Important notice regarding un-installs on Windows**
Only the last Maintenance Release installed on a Windows system can be
un-installed. You must uninstall all NetBackup Maintenance Releases before you
can uninstall the 7.5 base release.

Nothing in the release notes either

It should roll back to 7.5.0.6 as the old files are stored in th epatch directory for a roll back -  but at worst to 7.5

I will have a quick dig as that is fine for Client and Media Servers but I need to check in relation to Master Servers as some patches cannot be rolled back due to catalog changes that they make

I will do a quick check on that and get back to you

Thanks Mark for your reply

As for the moment we would only rollback on one client (to check if after rollback server reboot is fine), we will have just this action

I let you know the result

If there is no problem on the master server, best not to try a rollback.
I have seen issues in the past where the EMM database could not be downgraded....
