NODEVICE status for Plex when iam using vxprint -ht -g oracledg

Deeban

Hi Team,

When iam using the command vxprint -ht -g oracledg, it is showing the plex status of the vx disks as "NODEVICE".

If the status is RECOVER,STALE,CLEAN,INACTIVE , we can recover using the vxmend command.

But when it is showing as "NODEVICE", how can i recover it.

One of my Storage hardware is failed and we removed that hardware, we have one more backup instead of that.

Or once i fixed the removed hardware , the status of the plex again came to RECOVER or STALE or CLEAN status. Till now iam not received that hardware yet,But i dont think that may be the problem for this plex Status "NODEVICE".

You will need to resolve the problems with your missing storage before you will be able to start these volumes.

The output from vxdisk list should give us a better idea what status the LUNs are  currently in.

Thanks,

Hello,

Ed is right...

You have all your disk devices misssing.... so if you see above output, all the disks i.e oracledg01 -oracledg09 are missing...

I would say is your storage visible correctly ? can OS see the disks ?

This should help..

Hi ED,

After i fixed the hardware also iam getting NODEVICE status in the vxprint command.

After i fixed the SBOD storage controller i removed and recreated all the volumes. When iam checking the volumes, its perfect, no Issue.

When iam looking the volumes under veritas iam getting the status as "NODEVICE".

Hi,

I would say is your storage visible correctly ? can OS see the disks ?

You mean, i need to check using format command to check whether all the disks

are visisble through OS or not? . Or how can i check whether all the disks came under OS or not ...how could be all the disks visible?

Hello Deeban,

Yes, can "format" command see all the disks/Luns ?

Do you see any "failed" device in "vxdisk list" output ?
