I like the OpsCenter idea. I used it to setup access for the Help Desk. For certain clients, they can review backup job status and details. They have access to restore files but not to start, stop, modify, or delete backup jobs or policies.

I would recommend you work with a VAR to change your backup design. I've recently started a similar project. One thing to keep in mind with Accelerator, you won't see the benefit of Accelerator by going to tape. Keep it on disk.
