Back Up Exec 12.5 Password Protection of Tapes

I can not find how this is done in version 12.5.  I was able to password protect individual tapes in previous versions and so not see the option any longer.  I want to make sure the data is safe if someone was to steal a tape and take to another backup exec server and restore how do I keep that from happening?

The password feature was discontinued from BE11d onwards. Encryption has taken over the password

feature.

can a tape be encripted or is that only job by job?

You need to select encryption in the jobs property, no option to explicitly enrcypt the tape.

Also be very careful that if you upgraded BE with jobs that used Media Passwords to an envuironment that now supports Encryption instead of Media Passwords then recreate the jobs, don't modify the old jobs and continue using them.

Reason for this is if you (for instance) have a BE 10D job with a media password and upgrade to 12.5, even though the password setting is no longer available in the job properties it will still be used and can cause all sorts of issues later.
