Email Alerts not working

Hi,

I'm running Veritas Backup Exec Version 9.00 Rev. 4367 on a Windows 2000 Server, and am having problems with the software alerting me when a job has a success or failure. It was working before one of our guys left; after I removed him from the notification list the emails stopped going to our helpdesk. I removed his user, left the helpdesk user and added my user and that when the alerts stopped emailing. Everything seems to be setup correctly and the "test" button sends the email to the appropriate place, but when the job succeeds for fails, no email is sent. Any ideas?

Also, I noticed in services that the "Backup Exec 8.x Alert Server" was not running. I left it disabled because I'm assuming that it was always disabled, unless of course that is the problem. I'm new to the backup scene and am taking over where another person left off. Could this be the issue?

Thanks
-Casey

If you are in fact running verion 9.0, then the 8.x Alert server is not needed. I'm not even sure why you would still have it if you upgraded.

When you added your user, did you assign yourself to the alert categories? (Tools\Assign Recipients to Alerts) That will cause you to be notified whenever an alert is generated for the category you assign yourself to.

You can also do per-job notifications by assigning your account to receive notification when the job completes (success, failed, or with exceptions) Do this on the job properties screen on the Notification node. You can edit existing jobs to add your account to the jobs which you already have, and do it as you create new ones.

OK, Im ignoring the 8.x services.

I am checked as being a recipient in the Alerts Cat.

Just checked the Job Setup and I was not in the list there, I'll let it run tonight and see what happens.

Thanks!
