Setup Alerts (email)

How can I setup alerts so that they will email backup successes and failures?

Three step process:
 
1) Setup the method to be used:  SMTP, MAPI, Lotus, Pager, etc.  This is located under Tools\Email and Pager Notifications.
 
2) Create Recipients.  Choose what type of recipient, a person, a printer, another computer for netsend, etc.  This is located under Tools\Recipients.
 
3) Assign Recipients to Alerts: You can do this globally under Tools\Assign Recipients to Alerts.  Just select the alert ont he left side of the screen, then click the user(s) on the right and hit ok.  Do that for each alert you want to receive notification on.  If you rather just get notification for specific jobs, and not globally for all jobs, when you create the job there is a notification node.  Selcte the user to be informed when the job completes or fails.  That is only going to send notifications for that job however, no other jobs will send notifications unless set up to do so. 
 
The Global option is generally the best way to go if you have many jobs.  If you do global, sometimes it is best to only setup failure alerts and other important alerts to notify.  Job Success alerts can be overwhelming if you have many jobs running.
