After IE Browser upgrade to 8 and downgrade back to 7 EV Client in Outlook shows error ?

Hi,

One of my user having problem with the EV 8.0 plugin in Outlook 2007, he can't open the EV page to search for the archived email when this error / warning message popped up: 

The Web Application is not configured correctly in the Vault Site settings. Please contact your Enterprise Vault Administrator.

There is nothing changed in the Active DIrectory group policy decribed in the above link, apart from the user was uninstalling the IE 8 that was upgraded few months back and leftwith IE7 now with the broken EV search page.

However he can browse to the http://EV-Production01.domain.com/EnterpriseVault/search.asp?server=ExchangeProdBox01-VM&mbx=SMTP:User1@domain.com&version=0 in the interim.

Any Solution would be greatly appreciated.

Could you try to re-install the EV Add-On?

oh do you mean by reinstalling the EV Client manually after the browser reinstall ?

exactly as other users are probably not affected, I suspect it to be a client/addon problem Cheers

ok, it seems that the suggestion to reinstall EV Client 8.0 SP4 in the desktop is not a good idea because now the user got this error message: Cannot Start the Enterprise Vault search application

when all of the user in the domain is all fine, not GPO is defined to block the web toolbar as described in: http://www.symantec.com/business/support/index?page=content&id=TECH147400

Dushan,

Can you grab a client log?  It might also be an idea to completely uninstall the current add-on, check that the Enterprise Vault program folder has gone, delete the entries if any exist in HKCU\Software\KVS\Enterprise Vault, and then reinstall... and try again.

Rob, that is what I've done, reinstall the EV Client and then restart the PC.

the error seems to be getting worst than before ?
