Hi,

Any documentation, guidelines on how to adequately protect and restore the VCenter Server for disaster recovery purposes?

Environment is NetBackup 7.5, VMware vCenter 4.1

Thank you in advance,

Amer

Is your vcenter server a VM or physical?

This will have a large bearing on how to protect it. There can be some options within the VMware infrastructure you could do to protect a vcenter server VM. Before you then back it up.

Also, do you have your vcenter server database hosted on the same server.

How are you considering to protecting that. Is it an Oracle or MS SQL instance.?

I know I am answering a question with a question..

Here is some more food for thought about vcenter server. Excellent recent blog from Duncan Epping..

From Netbackup point of view it should be treated the same as any other OS installation you want to backup.
