Email alerts from netbackup

Hi,

Our requirement is to send email alerts to dba`s after every successfully Oracle Database Full & Archive log backups.

Archive log backups are scheduled to run every 4 hours.

Would like to know on how to configure this email alerts.

Firstly - check that sendmail is working on Oracle servers.
Login as root and use mailx to send test email to yourself and/or dba.

Once this is working, use NBU Host Properties, Clients -> <Client-name> -> Universal settings -> Client sends mail.
Add dba email address in this field.

dba will receive email after each backup attempt - successful and failed.

I want only specfic policies to send the alert. Is that possible using your method?

The easiest way for you to do this is using OpsCenter

Use the Alert for backup completed status and select the policies involved

Really easy to setup

Another option is to use parent_end_notify on the master server.

Sample script in /usr/openv/netbackup/bin/goodies folder can be copied to the bin folder.

If this script is activated and configured, it will send notification for ALL parent jobs, unless the script is customized for the one policy(policies) that you need notification for.
