Migration server Netbaсkup

Good day!
We have deployed a master Netbackup 7.7.1 server on the AIX 6.1 platform - a physical server.
We were tasked to move the role of the master server to a virtual machine under the windows 2012 R2.
The question is - if possible in such a way to migrate? Ideally I would like to get an exact copy of the master server, but only on a virtual machine that is running Windows 2012 R2.

Thank you.

Hi,

here a similar but old Question. https://www.veritas.com/community/forums/netbackup-65-unix-windows-migration

The idea with parallel Installation is fijne. We did the same for migration from Solaris to Windows. The longest expiration we had was 3 month except the some backups we did once a year.

These long-term yearly Backups we importet step by step. Took a long time but saved a lot of money.

ciao

To do it exactly does need catalog manipulation as covered earlier but a lot depends on how many backups ,what retentions and what you back up to

If you have several media sevrers with long tern disk retention then catalog manipulation is best

If you have short term disk retention and mainly tape for longer term then you could setup a new master and migrate across to it in a phased manner using "recovery without import" for the tape media.

Much will depend on what you have, where you backup to and how long you keep things

For an "identical" move you need to have the catalog work done by someone catman trained
