Hi all,

Master server : Linux

Netbackup version : NetBackup-RedHat2.6.18 7.5.0.4

Client : Linx RedHat2.6.18

When we start the restoration, it immediately fails with the below error. Irrespective of the client we choose to backup

10-oct-2014 7:19:45 - begin Restore
10-oct-2014 7:20:27 - restoring from image <IMAGE NAME>
10-oct-2014 7:20:27 - Warning bprd (pid=5648) Restore must be resumed prior to first image expiration on jue 06 nov 2014 02:37:14 MET
10-oct-2014 7:20:27 - end Restore; elapsed time 0:00:42
allocation failed  (10)
10-oct-2014 7:20:27 - requesting resource @aaabu
10-oct-2014 7:20:27 - Error nbjm (pid=1191) NBU status: 2074, EMM status: Disk volume is down
10-oct-2014 7:20:27 - Error nbjm (pid=1191) NBU status: 2074, EMM status: Disk volume is down

When we ran the command nbdevquery -liststs -U, we do not see any disk in DOWN state.

Please help on this.

The disk volume down is proberly caused by the "allocation failed" ealier in the job log.

Allocation failed indicate some sort of memory constrain.

This is the official description of the error : http://www.symantec.com/docs/HOWTO50787

  • Check no file systems are full
  • Try to suspend other backup jobs and retry the operation

Take a look at this tech note and ensure you follwo the guideline:

Recommended NetBackup *NIX semaphore tuning values (Linux/Solaris/HP-UX/AIX)

So it has nothing to do with the pure disk issues?

PureDisk issue - can you elaborate ?

The disk pools seem all to be up and running.

When we checked with our onsite couterpart, they said they dont see any issues with the puredisk. So we are now foccussed on the OS level to see what is causing this issue.
