Hello
I am working on a server disaster recovery plan with tapes that are encrypted. If my server went down and I have to rebuild it, or try and read the encrpyted backup tapes from another Symantec Backup Exec 2014 server, how would the encryption work for restoring? Is the key on the tape and I would manually enter the password, or is there a way to backup an encryption code and restore to a server?
Thanks
B.

You need to remember the passphrase that you used to generate the encryption key. On the new server, enter this passphrase to generate the encryption key and you are good to go.
If you forget the passphrase, then the encrypted data cannot be decrypted and even Symantec cannot help you there.
